Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE)

SITE has considerable experience in building local capacity in modern economics.
SITE has launched and nurtured the inspiring Centre for Economic and Financial Research (CEFIR, http://www.cefir.org),
Russia’s first homegrown, independent think tank, in Moscow in 2000. At CEFIR, some 25 highly trained young Russian economists are working with reform-minded government ministries, business groups, and independent organizations to tackle their country’s most pressing reform challenges.

SITE is supporting similar initiatives in many countries, including the Baltic International Centre for Economic Policy Studies
(BICEPS, http://www.biceps.org/) in Riga
and the New Economic School (http://www.nes.ru/) in Moscow, and the Kyiv Economics Institute (KEI) in Ukraine

Vattenfall Poland

The Vattenfall Assistant Professorship in Economics of the Energy Sector and Environmental Policy was established in 2004.
Vattenfall Poland has endowed a fellowship lasting for six years with start in 2004.

Poland's Committee for European Integration

The Committee for European Integration , responsible for Poland’s accession to the European Union, has already indicated a need for a research network specialized in EU related issues and capable of advising the government.
Topics of interest include assessment of the impact of the introduction of EU legislation in Poland, elaboration of Poland’s position with respect to CAP reform and the impact of structural policy, the relevance of the Lisbon Agenda to Polish economic priorities, and extending to consideration of the impact on its Eastern neighbors of Poland’s accession to the EU.

Polish Academy of Sciences, Center for Social Studies (CSS), and other Polish Partners

WISER plans to work closely with the Polish Academy of Sciences and with the Center for Social Studies, a joint initiative of the Central European University and the Polish Academy of Sciences, where WISER will initially be located

We also enjoy support from several other academic and research institutions in Poland, including the Warsaw University and the Warsaw School of Economics. WISER will also cooperate with CASE and the Gdansk Institute of Market Economics. WISER fellows and affiliates will contribute directly to the teaching of modern economics in Poland at the Academy of Sciences, at the Center for Social Studies, at the Warsaw School of Economics, and at the Warsaw University.

International Partners

WISER also cooperates with such international organizations as the World Bank (http://www.worldbank.org/)
and networks such as CEPR (http://www.cepr.org/). CEPR is making a concerted effort to involve researchers based in Eastern and Central European countries in its network. This will help WISER researchers to stay connected with top researchers in their fields and to participate in Europe-wide research projects.
